The 19th Chinese National Conference on Light Scattering (CNCLS) was held in Sun Yat-SenUniversity, Guangzhou, 1st-5th December. More than fivehundred people coming from different countries and universities were attended. Duringthe meeting, there were three main topics, two-dimensional layered materialscharacterization, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and foodsafety/biological medicine. Our PhD studentYaran Zhao’s poster In-situ SERSmonitoring of Suzuki coupling reactions catalyzed by Pd nanoparticles wasawarded Excellent Poster Award. Congratulations! The 20th CNCLS will be held in 2019 at Suzhou University and we are looking forward tomeeting again there.
September 23rd, the 2017 athletic game of Nankai University was held on Balitai campus, Nankai University. On behalf of the faculty of chemistry, our professors attended the men's 4*100-meter relay race. They tried the best and got the 6th position (out of 11 teams). They were happy and decided to practice more for the 5th position of next year.
After righteous appraisal and selection, Dr. Yaran Zhao and Dr. Yueyue Dong were awarded the third prize of Mikrouna Scholarship, which is established in the Key Laboratory of Advanced Energy Materials Chemistry (AEMC) by Mikrouna Company.
In the first volleyball match organized by Applied Chemistry and Engineering Research Institute of Nankai University, students from our group and Prof. Mingjian Yuan’s group assembled one team and won the third prize. In this competition, Jun Liu was the leader of the team. Besides, three undergraduate students joined in our team. Mengcun Li did the graduation project in our group. Li Luo and Rui Zou together worked on “100 projects” of creative research in our laboratory. During the game, we were impressed by the strong unity and good cooperation of our team. However, we were still not skilled in volleyball and we have to spend much time to practice in order to perform better. After the match, we developed great friendships with other teams.
